Hymenoplasty
Hymenoplasty, also known as hymen reconstruction surgery, is a delicate cosmetic gynecological procedure that restores the integrity of the hymen—a thin membrane located at the entrance of the vagina. This surgery is typically requested for cultural, religious, personal, or psychological reasons, and is often associated with a desire to restore the appearance of virginity.
The procedure involves carefully suturing the remnants of the hymenal tissue or, in some cases, creating a new hymen using vaginal mucosal tissue. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia and usually takes 30–60 minutes. Recovery is relatively quick, with most patients resuming normal activities within a few days, while avoiding sexual intercourse and strenuous activity for a few weeks.
Hymenoplasty is a confidential and safe procedure that offers emotional reassurance and a sense of renewal to patients who seek it for deeply personal reasons.
