Root Canal Treatment (Endodontic Therapy)
Root canal treatment is a procedure used to treat infection or damage inside a tooth’s pulp—the soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels. When the pulp becomes infected due to decay or injury, it can cause severe pain and swelling.
During the procedure, the dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and fills the space with a biocompatible material. Finally, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling to protect it and restore function.
Root canal therapy saves natural teeth that would otherwise need extraction and helps relieve pain and prevent further infection.
