Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to increase breast size, enhance shape, or correct asymmetry using breast implants or fat transfer. It is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries worldwide.

There are two primary methods:
• Silicone or saline implants are inserted under the breast tissue or chest muscle.
• Autologous fat transfer, where fat is taken from another part of the patient’s body via liposuction and injected into the breasts.

This procedure is ideal for individuals who want fuller breasts due to genetics, post-pregnancy volume loss, or after weight loss. Implant types, shapes, and sizes are chosen based on the patient’s anatomy and expectations.

Breast augmentation is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes 1–2 hours. Recovery is relatively quick, with many patients returning to light activities within a week. Results are long-lasting and customizable.
